Lifelong San Lorenzo fan Viggo Mortensen used The Oscars to display his love for the Argentine club. The actor was at Hollywood's biggest back slapping event of the year as he had been nominated for his role in Green Book, which won the 'best film' gong.

The actor was at Hollywood's biggest back slapping event of the year as he had been nominated for his role in Green Book, which won the 'best film' gong.

The 60-year-old, who has starred in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, was on stage with Jim Burke in Los Angeles when he revealed the San Lorenzo badge stitched into his waistcoat.

Mortensen's love affair with the began when his Danish father and American mother relocated to Argentina from their home in New York when the actor was just two, remaining there until he was 11.

“I love that team, and the history of it," he told Shortlist.com in 2018. "Not just the team, but the neighbourhood it’s from, Boedo.

"Historically it’s produced a lot of artists, a lot of writers. [It’s] a very complex neighbourhood, and complex team, in a way, San Lorenzo.”

It's also seen West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta play there, as well as Ezequiel Lavezzi and the maddest goalkeeper of them all, Jose Luis Chilavert. Fabricio Coloccini left Newcastle after eight years to join the club in 2016.

And it's not the first time Mortensen has used a high-profile event to showcase his support, as he did the same at the 2017 Oscars.
