Caffeine lovers can score a free coffee from McDonald’s on Tuesday, as the fast food restaurant celebrates a milestone anniversary.

McCafe is celebrating its 30th birthday, after the world’s first version of the coffee shop opened in Swanston St, Melbourne back in 1993.

Customers are able to redeem a free medium hot coffee via the MyMacca’s app on Tuesday only.

This means Aussies can snap up anything from a latte, espresso, mocha, macchiato, cappuccino, flat white or long black to satisfy their caffeine cravings.

“Tomorrow, coffee is on us,” Lancy Huynh, group brand manager for McDonald’s Australia, said.

“We are shouting free coffee to customers across Australia to thank them for their loyalty and support over the past 30 years.

“Free coffee is the only way to celebrate 30 years of serving great quality coffee to a nation of coffee lovers.

“We hope our customers enjoy their morning coffee or afternoon pick-me-up on us.”

All customers have to do in order to redeem the free beverage is open the MyMacca’s app and select ‘free coffee’ under ‘My Deals’.

McDonald’s has its coffee van on tour to celebrate the big birthday, giving customers in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville a free coffee between 6am and 2pm.

The van stopped in Melbourne last week and is in Sydney on May 30, before heading up to Brisbane on 4 June and Townsville on 6 June.

Last week, Macca’s also revealed it had decided to combine two McCafe favourites, and created the “Birthday Cake Latte” as part of the celebrations.

The “innovative” new beverage is only available for a limited time, and as the name suggests, features the signature smooth taste of an Aussie coffee combined with “delicious cake flavours”.

After opening that first outlet in Melbourne back in 1993, McCafe has expanded to have 1026 locations in Australia, and more than 4000 in 60 countries around the globe.

Earlier this month, McDonald’s claimed that one in every four coffees sold in Australia is from one of its McCafe outlets, adding the fast food giant sells 600,000 coffees every single day.
